About UCPCM
United California Practitioners of Chinese Medicine (UCPCM) is a non-profit
professional organization formed by licensed acupuncturists and established in 1995. It
has become one of the largest, influential and leading Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) /acupuncture associations in Northern California with over 400 members of
various ages. Residing mostly in the Bay Area, its members are bilingual, speaking
both English and Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Minnan Dialects).
Over the years, UCPCM has been actively promoting positive images of TCM /
acupuncture and diligently serving its members and the community. It has taken the
leadership role in dealing with legislative issues, fighting for benefits from insurance
companies, and increasing the professional status of acupuncturists.
UCPCM has organized and participated in events such as yearly free clinic in
community centers, libraries, and street fairs.
Most importantly, UCPCM has been organizing continuing education seminars every
other month. UCPCM has a strong continuing education team. It invites top notch local
and international TCM / acupuncture practitioners to lecture practical and advanced
topics, which include unique needling and manual techniques, clinical management,
insurance claiming, standard documentation and etc. High tech AV tools are used and
English translation handouts and simultaneous interpretation provided. Three lectures
will be in San Francisco and three in South Bay. Along with Chinese CE courses,
UCPCM also provides English CE courses. UCPCM provides one free “How to Startup
Your Own Acupuncture Clinic” lecture for new members each year.
Board of Directors (BOD) and Board of Supervisors (BOS) are directly elected by the
members, serving a two year term. The president of UCPCM is elected among and by
BOD. UCPCM has several departments and committees. Each department or
committee has a chair person in charge.
